Good Morning Year 4!

Again, it has been lovely to hear from you and see what you have been up to.

Yesterday was a very special day for Fabian and Alice as they celebrated their 9th birthdays!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to both of them!   Alice’s cake is Swallow from the Swallow and Amazon books.  Fabian’s cake has his favourite fruit raspberries and strawberries.  Both cakes look yum!

We hope that you find this mornings prayer information interesting, as it is about Our Lady of Fatima, when Our Lady visited children of your age and younger, and spoke to them, exactly 103 years ago! How amazing that must have been for them!

Today is a great day for our Science work! It is experiment time, and we know that you love these activities. If you have been able to get hold of what you need to join in and do your own experiment, that’s great! Don’t worry if you haven’t, as we will be posting daily updates showing you what is happening with our experiment.

Also, how are you getting on with the Olympic Challenges?  We are now on Day 8.  Make sure you take part – keeping your body active!!

Continue to keep us up to date on your learning and about anything else you would like to share.

A reminder: you can keep in contact with us by sending an email to: year4@popepaul.herts.sch.uk.

Continue to try your best in doing your learning each day. Remember, read through each activity for today’s learning and keep your handwriting neatly presented as you complete each task.

Here’s what some of you have been up to: Thank you to Manus, William and Fabian for their photos.

Manus also emailed his contraption: Cleaner 30! A contraption that can clean almost anything!

Good Morning Year 4!

Welcome back after a long weekend.  We hope that you had time to celebrate VE Day with your family.  Did many of you have your own garden parties?  I made bunting which I put up outside my house and we had scones and tea in the garden.  Did you hear the Queen’s Speech?

Ms Dunning and I hope that you are finding the work we are setting on the class page manageable. Whilst it is important that you try your best to keep up, we understand that every family’s situation is different, with sharing of laptops, slow wi-fi, younger children to cater for, home working for adults and so on.

We have seen some amazing work from all of you in the class and it is lovely to have emails from you too.  Keep on posting your work!

Have a lovely week of learning!

Mrs McNamara and Ms Dunning

Here’s what you got up to on Thursday:

Darcie-Louise designed her poster and solved the VE Day wordsearch.  Nabira had fun in the park enjoying the sunshine!

There are a lot of great activities for you to do today, including History.

Good Morning Year 4!

As tomorrow is a bank holiday, no learning will be uploaded. However, tomorrow is a VERY important day.  Tomorrow, Friday 8th May, people all over the UK and in other countries of the world will turn their thoughts and attention to the 75th anniversary of VE day. This very important and historical day, back in 1945, marked the end of World War II in Europe. You have been focusing your learning on VE day this week.  I have put together a range of activities for you to try on a project planner – choose as many activities as you want to! There is something for all ages so have a go and don’t forget to share your learning! Have a wonderful day celebrating.

At 9am on 8th May, The Queen will address the nation and there will be a live stream on BBC – which is the exact same time that her father, King George VI, spoke to the UK 75 years ago, on the actual VE Day.

At 11am there will be a two minute silence to remember and thank those who fought for our freedom.

Send onto me pictures of the things that you do!!

Let’s have a look at what you have been up to:  thank you to Phoebe, Lottie, Darcie-Louise and William for posting photos to share their learning with you.  Great postcards!  Telling the time in french and preparing for a VE Tea party – great work!

Good Morning Year 4!

Again, it has been lovely to hear from you and see what you have been up to.  Thank you for keeping in touch. Before you settle down into doing today’s work, don’t forget to look at the answers for the tasks you completed yesterday and if you did not complete the challenge for the RE task, take a look at the comparison between the Gospel’s of Matthew and Luke’s accounts of the resurrection. The differences are very interesting! As today is Wednesday, the Wednesday Word is now available online. Click here.

We hope that you enjoy today’s work that has been set, including the science task today! See below details of things that you will need for next week’s activity. ep in contact with us by sending an email to: year4@popepaul.herts.sch.uk.

Let’s see what you have been up to:

Megan enjoyed doing the body percussion activity and wanted to share this with you:

Fabian is sharing more of his culinary successes: a birthday cake that was made for his dad and pizza making with his sister!

Nabira and her family are celebrating Ramadam and she has been fasting too.

William and Lola enjoyed the time work for French today.

Lola has been working hard on her contraption and art work.  She thought of two contratptions: one is a hot air balloon that helps carry your water bottle up to you if you sleep in a bunk bed saving you having to get out of bed and the second idea is a spinning wheel t hat helps decide on what chores you have to do for the day!!  I think that we could all do with these!

Keep posting everyone!

A Reminder for next week:

Next week, in our Science task, our task will be focusing on an EXPERIMENT! The experiment is about how eggshells react to different liquids.  We will be putting eggs in different liquids to see what will happen. The material that eggshells are made from is a little bit like our teeth, so it will be interesting to see what will happen! If you would like to do the experiment yourselves, you will need to be prepared. You may have these things at home or you may want to get them so that you can do the experiment.

You will need 3 eggs (you can use more), 3 liquids. Vinegar would be ideal and any 2 other liquids of your choice such as Coca-Cola, lemon juice, orange juice, milk and water. If you cannot do the experiment, don’t worry. We will be posting pictures daily, to help you keep a record of what happens over time.

Good Morning Year 4!

We come to the end of another busy week of learning and from your emails you have all been working hard at your learning and developing your skills in many other different areas.  Well done!

Remember that we need your photo for our Virtual May Procession by 12 o’clock today.

Here are some of the lovely emails that you have sent:

Mia wanted to share a great milestone – she has had her hamster 🐹 Chip since Christmas and she finally managed to get him to play in her arms happily!  Mia has spoken about Chip in class…well done Mia!

Lottie has been busy baking, making some great shortbread biscuits that certainly stand out because of her unique decorating!

Fabian has been busy helping his mum make polish dumplings (pierogi) filled with meat and vegetables and making different styles with cheese and potatoes (called ruskie).

Darcie-Louise and Phoebe drew their own ‘wow’ images as part of their morning prayer.

Nicola worked hard on her decimal work:

Sandro, William, Fabian and Phoebe sent in images of their contraptions: Can you guess what their contraption does?

Yesterday I had a problem uploading William’s poem about his chosen animal but the problem has been resolved!  Click here to watch him perform it.
