Good Morning Year 4 – Here’s an update from some of your class mates of what they got up to yesterday!

Joseph produced a lovely rainbow picture of Hope after seeing Fabian’s.  Darcie-Louise and her family continue to complete the early morning workout and their learning! Ellie, Phoebe and Sammy are hard at work!  Well done Year 4.

Darcie-Louise and her sisters have been busy with the morning workout with Joe Wicks!  They were able to join Fr Shaun online to watch mass – the Feast of the Annunciation and even had some time for a spot of gardening!

Children across the UK are putting up homemade rainbow creations in their windows at home, in a bid to spread hope and positivity amid the self-isolation period in support of all the people who are working so hard at this time.  Also on Facebook is a page “Rainbow Trail”.  Ask your parents to have a look!

Dear Parents and Carers,

What follows from today (Monday 23rd March) is a daily blog that Mrs Dunning and I would like the children to complete at home over the coming weeks. We are committed to making sure that your child is still learning as much as possible and endeavour to do our best to keep this happening. Week 3: 13th March

To celebrate Science Week, the children have embraced the concept of dunking biscuits with enthusiasm and to see more about what they got up to, click on the link below.

We met Vicky Dearing, a lady scientist.  It was really interesting to find out about her work on DNA.

Our brainstorming of ideas for possible experiments to carry out.

Showing our experiment to Mrs Jane Goring, the RE Lead Inspector from the Westminster Diocese who visited our classroom on Wednesday.

Each morning the have had an explorify activity to examine, discuss and feel that these have tested us on our skills of observation and questioning.  It was lovely to see many of you this morning having a go at Creating a Tree for the Set-point challenge which has come from Hertfordshire.

I will send off the photos of the children’s designs and see what awaits us!

     

 

In Computing the children have continued with their work on Scratch, developing their understanding of how to programme a sprite to meet another sprite and change colour!

In PE with Coach Duggan this afternoon, the class continued to look at fitness.  We had some very capable children doing five strides very capably!

Week 2: 17th January

This week, the children continued their RE work on People of prayer and from reading Matthew’s Gospel, learnt about the Sermon on the Mount, acting out the story and what Jesus spoke about in the Beatitudes.  They also examined the Beatitudes.

In Maths, the children continued their numberwork on factors and have continued to work hard in learning their timetables.

In Science, they investigated a dancing raisin experiment to teach them about states of matter and the children thoroughly enjoyed observing the raisins.  They could see the bubbles stick to the rough surface of a raisin with the raisin being lifted because of the increase in buoyancy.

In PE they continued with their dance session and in drumming with Kaz, they continued to develop their understanding of music notation and played a three part djembe piece.

 

It was a pleasure to hear how our wonderful school received its outstanding judgement showing the outstanding commitment of all members of our school community through our home, school and parish partnership.  We are proud that our pupils’ behaviour and their living out of the Gospel values were recognised and thank you for your continued support.
