Although shorter, due to the bank holiday Monday, it has been a busy week for the children in Year 4.

On Tuesday, the class participated in the May Procession along with the rest of the school and honoured our Lady with flowers. It has been a wonderful morning to start our week with! Thank you for all of you who donated pot plants to our school gardens.

Also on Tuesday, we participated in the HfL Year 4 Maths Championships, where our 2 teams answered some very challenging general mathematics questions before putting their problem solving skills to the test in the ‘Visual estimation’ round. Very well done to the children; they tackled the questions with great confidence and showed no hesitation even though they had to work under strict time limits. We are very proud of you!

On Thursday, the class participated in Mass celebrating the Feast of the Ascension. They sang beautifully and their reverence created a deeply prayerful atmosphere.

In Maths, we continued our learning of time, whilst in English, the children wrote their final explanation texts and published them adding a labelled diagram, a flowchart and maintenance instruction to the main body of their text. In RE, we compared the Ascension according to Luke to his other Gospel of the same title in the Act of Apostles whilst in PE the class played another competitive game of rounders.

Just a reminder:

For their next D&T unit, the children will make torches. Please could you save and send in any larger, narrow paper tubes or boxes, like the inside of a kitchen roll or the packaging (box) of baking paper or thin foil. The more, the better as we will need to make prototypes first. Thank you for your support with this.

Hopefully, you have also received the letter explaining the details of our class trip on Monday, 10th June 2024. Please make sure to give consent on Schoolcomms and mark food options for the day.

Hope you have a lovely, sunny weekend,

Ms Varga
