Good Morning Year 4.

It has been wonderful to see what you have been up to!  Today is the Feast of the Ascension and as part of Spirituality Week, we have been asked to join mass at 10am with Fr Shaun and Deacon Axcel.  Yesterday,we were invited to examine the God who speaks through scripture. Reading biblical stories about Jesus’ power to heal can hearten and encourage us. Stories can offer hope. Today, you are being asked to think about the artist Giotto.

Let’s see what some of you got up to yesterday:

Keep up the good work.

We heard some sad news from Megan and Fabian whose pets have recently passed away. As part of out prayer time today, let us think of them at this sad time and offer them and their families comfort.

Good Morning Year 4!

We hope that you are enjoying this special Spirituality Week. The Prayer Stations yesterday were absolutely wonderful. Which was your favourite? Well done and thank you to all of the children in Year 6 who helped to put this together.

As always, we love to see what you have been doing.

Today, our work on our Science experiment comes to an end and we will be looking closely at the results. You can look at the PowerPoint and you let us know what you think, or if you have not been in touch already, we would love to know how you got on!

Today is expected to be a hot day. Remember to take regular breaks and have lots of water to drink. Enjoy the wonderful sunshine!

Good Morning Year 4!

We hope that you have enjoyed a good start to this week. As always, we love to see what you have been doing. Alice, William, Lola, Sami, Sandro, Darcie-Louise and Mia  have kindly shared pictures of their hard work.

Let’s see what they’ve been up to:

Well done on all your fabulous photos- it is LOVELY to see what you have been doing!

Also, congratulations to those of you who managed to get the resources to do the Science experiment. It has been lovely to see some of your photos! If you have not already been in touch, let us know how you got on. Did any of you manage to bounce the egg that was in vinegar? Those eggs became very soft and rubbery! You will find out why, this week, if you do not already know. If you were unable to do the experiment yourselves, you will be able to see lots of pictures on the PowerPoint and you can let us know what you think.

Spirituality week got off to a wonderful start yesterday. Thank you to William and Darcie-Louise for your sheet of hearts showing all the special people who belong to Year 4.

Today’s task for Spirituality week includes audios of different prayer stations for you to listen to that have been organised and composed by Year 6 House Captains and Liturgy Leaders. We are sure that you will really enjoy listening to these. Let us know which is your favourite!

We want you to share your learning with us and tell us what special things you have been doing at home on your own or with your family.  Keep posting!

A reminder: you can keep in contact with us by sending an email to: year4@popepaul.herts.sch.uk.

Continue to try your best in doing your learning each day. Remember, read through each activity for today’s learning and keep your handwriting neatly presented as you complete each task.

Good Morning Year 4!

We hope that you have had a wonderful weekend. As always, we love to see what you have been doing.

This week is a very special week. It is our Spirituality week! We have lots of lovely activities for you to do each day, which will make our week a little different and enjoyable. The Year 6 House Captains and Liturgy Leaders have worked hard to assist with this, so we send them a special thank you too.

Our Science experiment progressed very well since Friday. Make sure you see the pictures of our eggs and what happened to them, by looking at the PowerPoint. You can complete your science table in your books when you are ready. Don’t forget to let us know how your experiment went, if you did it yourselves!

It is also Week 5, which means that on Friday it will be half term! So, one more week of hard work, and you can have a whole week of well-deserved rest!

We want you to share your learning with us and tell us what special things you have been doing at home on your own or with your family.  Keep posting!

A reminder: you can keep in contact with us by sending an email to: year4@popepaul.herts.sch.uk.

Good morning Year 4!

Well, we have seen such a wonderful array of birthday cakes this week – I hope that Fabian, Alice and Darcie-Louise still have some birthday cake left to nibble on today!  Your parents have clearly ensured that they have found creative ways so that you have had a fabulous day during this time.  Judging by your early morning photos, it seems as if you have had special breakfasts that include seeing your cake!  Lucky you!

It has been wonderful to hear that you had fun with your science experiment this week – make sure that you keep daily observations on what is happening!  Lots of you are working hard on developing your understanding of decimals, improving your handwriting and lots more.  Joseph has also shared his lovely altar.

Keep posting – it is lovely to see all that is going on at home and how hard you are all working.  Experimenting, competing, celebrating, practising your handwriting, mastering work on decimals…well done!

Have a great day of learning today!

Good Morning Year 4!

We start today wishing another member of our class Darcie-Louise a Happy 9th Birthday!  We wish her a great day ahead!  What a fabulous Haribo gravity defying cake Darcie-Louise!

Let’s see some of the news we received from you yesterday….

Our first email of the day arrived from Cian.  He created a beautiful, reflective altar and explained why these special items were placed on it.  The colourful cross was from his First Holy Communion and his Nan gave him the rosary beads which mean a lot to him as they came from the Holy Land. The Bible is his mum’s – a present she brought back from Australia. The two special candles were received at his brother Joshua’s and his own Communion celebrations.  To complete the look, Cian has been allowed to use his mum’s best tablecloth!  Next week is Spirituality Week and to prepare for this special week, it would be lovely to see if you could prepare your own altars in a special place in your homes.

Ellie has been busy too…not only completing her learning but she has made a birds house that has an apple, apricot and small pieces of a cookie at the bottom of it.  We hope that many birds visit it.

Freddie has also been busy getting stuck into his English – Keep up the great work!

I have also been spending time outside in my garden in the early part of the evenings and at the weekends taking photos of birds nearby and the moon (early evenings and at night time).

We hope that you got to set up your experiment for our science investigation.  Each day, do observe what is happening to your eggs in vinegar/water/orange/coca-cola.  Well done to William who has set up his experiment at home!

Good Morning Year 4!

Again, it has been lovely to hear from you and see what you have been up to.

Yesterday was a very special day for Fabian and Alice as they celebrated their 9th birthdays!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to both of them!   Alice’s cake is Swallow from the Swallow and Amazon books.  Fabian’s cake has his favourite fruit raspberries and strawberries.  Both cakes look yum!

We hope that you find this mornings prayer information interesting, as it is about Our Lady of Fatima, when Our Lady visited children of your age and younger, and spoke to them, exactly 103 years ago! How amazing that must have been for them!

Today is a great day for our Science work! It is experiment time, and we know that you love these activities. If you have been able to get hold of what you need to join in and do your own experiment, that’s great! Don’t worry if you haven’t, as we will be posting daily updates showing you what is happening with our experiment.

Also, how are you getting on with the Olympic Challenges?  We are now on Day 8.  Make sure you take part – keeping your body active!!

Continue to keep us up to date on your learning and about anything else you would like to share.

Freddie’s friend decorated a stone with a special message and left it for Freddie to pick up – a thoughtful act of kindness from a lovely friend.

Many of you spent time on Friday enjoying the VE Day celebrations:

Nabira continues to enjoy her local area and complete her daily learning.

Last week, many of you enjoyed the French work on time and we have more of that for you to learn today!  Also, we have some lovely RE work for you about Our Lady, Mary, as it is her special month of May.

Good Morning Year 4!

Welcome back after a long weekend.  We hope that you had time to celebrate VE Day with your family.  Did many of you have your own garden parties?  I made bunting which I put up outside my house and we had scones and tea in the garden.  Did you hear the Queen’s Speech?

Ms Dunning and I hope that you are finding the work we are setting on the class page manageable. Whilst it is important that you try your best to keep up, we understand that every family’s situation is different, with sharing of laptops, slow wi-fi, younger children to cater for, home working for adults and so on.

We have seen some amazing work from all of you in the class and it is lovely to have emails from you too.  Keep on posting your work!

Have a lovely week of learning!

Mrs McNamara and Ms Dunning

Here’s what you got up to on Thursday:

Darcie-Louise designed her poster and solved the VE Day wordsearch.  Nabira had fun in the park enjoying the sunshine!

There are a lot of great activities for you to do today, including History.

Good Morning Year 4!

As tomorrow is a bank holiday, no learning will be uploaded. However, tomorrow is a VERY important day.  Tomorrow, Friday 8th May, people all over the UK and in other countries of the world will turn their thoughts and attention to the 75th anniversary of VE day. This very important and historical day, back in 1945, marked the end of World War II in Europe. You have been focusing your learning on VE day this week.  I have put together a range of activities for you to try on a project planner – choose as many activities as you want to! There is something for all ages so have a go and don’t forget to share your learning! Have a wonderful day celebrating.

At 9am on 8th May, The Queen will address the nation and there will be a live stream on BBC – which is the exact same time that her father, King George VI, spoke to the UK 75 years ago, on the actual VE Day.

At 11am there will be a two minute silence to remember and thank those who fought for our freedom.

Send onto me pictures of the things that you do!!

Let’s have a look at what you have been up to:  thank you to Phoebe, Lottie, Darcie-Louise and William for posting photos to share their learning with you.  Great postcards!  Telling the time in french and preparing for a VE Tea party – great work!
