WALT identify  and use alliteration.

I would like you to magpie Roald Dahl’s use of alliteration. Alliteration is when the same letter or sound is used at the beginning of closely used words. The book’s name Fantastic Mr Fox is alliterative as it uses the same letter at the beginning of the words for effect).

  1. Give yourself some alliterative names that describe your character? For example: Amazing Anya or Brave Bella. Try doing this for other friends and family too.
  2. List any other book characters or titles you can think of where the author has used alliteration. Roald Dahl and Francesca Simon use it a lot in their books.
Reading

Please read independently for at least 15 minutes and record your reading in your reading record along with any alliteration you might find.

Good Morning Year 4!

We had a busy day yesterday with the Key worker children in class. Luckily the weather was lovely, so we spent most of our break times outdoors. We joined in with Mass in the morning and then completed our tasks later during the day. Well done for Mishka, who has joined us for the first time!

It was lovely to hear from some of you yesterday. Please remember to send us an email and pictures of your learning!

Please remember to click onto the wider curriculum blog for your afternoon activities.

Lily shared with us some sad news that her cat has passed away.  Please remember her in your prayers this morning.

Find a quiet place to reflect and say this prayer…..

Lord Jesus,

when you walked with us on earth

you spread your healing power.

We place in your loving care

all who are affected by Coronavirus.

Keep us strong in faith, hope and love.

Bring relief to our sick,

console our bereaved,

protect those who care for us.

We lift our prayer to you Lord,

and trust in your infinite mercy,

as we wait for the daybreak.

Amen.

Year 6 – Monday 1st June learning

Good morning, Year 6, and welcome to another new half term! I am so happy that I will be seeing most of you over the next few days to welcome you back to school for the final 7 weeks of the year.

As has been explained in the letters from Mrs Heymoz, learning will continue to be posted on the blogs, so that those at home and at school will have access the same tasks. There will be a slight change, however, to the format from the past 10 weeks. I will be posting daily maths, English and spelling tasks on this blog, and I will then direct you to a broader curriculum post for you to choose from several activities.

A celebration blog will go out every Friday, featuring photos of your learning from the entire week, so don’t think I’m ignoring you if your photo isn’t posted the day after you send it to me!

Have a lovely day, enjoy your learning, and I’ll see some of you tomorrow 😊

Waiting

In the early hours of the morning, when then sun was barely peeking its head over the trees that surrounded the lagoon, he lay there. Waiting.

The vast creature slid through the water like a partially submerged submarine, the majority of its bulk hidden beneath the green-tinged water.

It was a calm morning, and so the shiny surface of the lagoon reflected its surroundings like a window; a window that showed the true beauty of nature for those who looked into it. However, despite its beauty and serenity, the atmosphere in this place could suddenly change. Power, panic and noise could put an end to the peace. The vast creature waited… He had seen something…

Answer the following questions below.
Remember to write full answers.

What is the creature in the lagoon?

What is a lagoon?

What is the creature waiting for?

In what way is the surface of the lagoon like a window?

What other creatures might there be in the lagoon?

What makes this animal dangerous, do you think?

Perfect picture!

Imagine you can see all of the animal. Draw what it would look like out of the water?
