Autumn 2 Week 8

Miss Shea and I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Please bring your holy Christmas cards in to school in January.

Wednesday 21st December, 2022

The autumn term has come  an end. It has been a busy first term in Year 6 but wonderful to share so many events with our community. We wish you and all your families, peace and joy this Christmas time and thank you for the generous gifts we have received from you.

This week in RE the children have learnt more about the Jesse Tree in our daily class worship and today looked at Matthew’s gospel (1:18 – 2:6) and examined what names for Jesus Matthew used.  The children examined their thoughts on the names and took these and created word art.

On Tuesday the children made chocolate star biscuits and decorated them.  I do not think any made the journey home…the children were busy nibbling at them in the afternoon!

As promised, here are the pictures of the children enjoying the snow at school.

Loving God, as we wait for the birth of Jesus at Christmas, we give thanks for the wonderful gift of new life. We
pray for all parents around the world and for their children, that they will be healthy, happy and love one another.
Amen.
“The Birth of Jesus brings us the good news that we are loved immensely and uniquely by God.” Pope Francis

We wish you and all your family, peace and joy at Christmas time.  See you in the new year!

On behalf of all of the Reception staff, I would like to offer a huge thank you for all your good wishes and generosity this Christmas. It is really appreciated!

Thank you also for your wonderful support this term. We really hope that all our families manage to keep the sickness bugs at bay  this holiday and for those children currently sick, that they make a quick recovery, in time for Christmas.

Wishing you all a very happy Christmas filled with joy and laughter.

See you in the New Year!

Year 5 – 16/12/22

Oh, what a week it’s been! Snow, Christmas jumpers, Christmas dinner, panto, Christmas party…it has certainly been a fun one! Enjoy the photos and videos of Year 5’s week!

Thursday was panto day, for which the Year 5s walked and sat excitedly with the Year 1s to watch Dick Wittington and his Cat. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all!

Today was our Christmas Party where we had a competitive game of Pin the Carrot on the Snowman, had professional photos taken, met Father Christmas in our school grotto, played a game of head bowling, enjoyed party food in the hall, then ended the day with a glow-stick disco and dance-off. The children will definitely sleep well tonight!

Some entertaining viewing for you all!

Week 7 – the busiest week in history!

Oh my, what a week! I hope all the children had a fun packed festive week and enjoy looking at the pictures. See you all Monday for two and a half days more of school!

Tuesday- Wriggly Nativity

Wednesday- Christmas Lunch

Thursday- Panto

Friday- Party Day

Reception Week Beginning 12.12.22

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!!

Reception class have had a very exciting week in school which began with a snow day on Monday!

Sadly, many of the Reception children have been poorly this week and attendance on some days was very low. It was with great sadness and disappointment that we had to cancel the class Nativity on Thursday. We are looking forward to leading the whole school in a special Valentines Day assembly, on Friday 10th February.

This week the children have enjoyed: eating Christmas dinner, watching a panto, meeting Father Christmas and partying!

Tonight we have sent home some very tired but happy children!

We’ve really missed the children and staff who have been away this week; we hope to see you all fighting fit on Monday morning!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,

The Reception Team

Autumn 2 Week 7

What a fun filled week we’ve had! On Tuesday we enjoyed playing in the snow together; building snow people, sledging and making snow angels.

We have also enjoyed performing our Wriggly Nativity to the whole school and the parents. I’m sure you’ll agree that the children performed brilliantly.

On Wednesday, we all had Christmas lunch together and sang Christmas carols, which was lovely. We had a wonderful time at the panto yesterday and had a lot of fun today as well – partying, meeting Santa and getting Christmas ‘tattoos!’

Have a lovely weekend

Autumn 2 Week 7

We have had a wonderful week! It started off with a snow day on Monday. It was great to hear the stories of the children playing in the snow and building snowmen. When we returned to school, we had a great time playing in the snow together.

On Tuesday, it was fantastic to watch the Year 3 and 4 Music Concert. Well done to all of the children who took part.

On Wednesday, we had our Christmas Lunch. We were excited to see the dining hall and tables decorated and enjoyed eating lunch together. In the afternoon, we watched the Year 5 and 6 Music Concert followed by the choir singing. Well done to all the Year 3 choir members who sang beautifully.

On Thursday, we went to Wyllyotts Theatre to watch Dick Whittington. The children enjoyed every minute of the show and were a great audience. They especially enjoyed the interval when we ate ice cream.

At the end the week, we had our Christmas Party and a visit from Father Christmas. We danced, ate cakes, had glitter tattoos, hair chalk and played games.

What a wonderful, fun filled week.  The photos are on the Powerpoint attached. Christmas Fun 2022

Have a great Weekend!

Friday, 16th December 2022

The children in Year 4 had a busy, festive week.

They enjoyed the snow at break times, building snowmen and snowball pyramids.

They performed during various Christmas music concerts, singing, playing the piano or the guitar. Members of the choir also performed during the upper ks2 music concert on Wednesday. Well done everyone; it has been a pleasure watching you play/sing so well!

The class also enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch! Happy faces particularly after consuming their puddings!

The children had opportunity on Thursday to watch the KS1 Nativity in the morning, whilst after an early lunch they walked down to the Wyllyotts Theatre to watch the Panto. The children really enjoyed the performance!

Today the class visited our school grotto and met Father Christmas. In addition, they enjoyed activities in the hall, dancing, party food and party games in class. A fitting end to this great week!

I wish you all a lovely weekend,

Ms Varga

Friday 16th December, 2022

This week has been another busy one!

The children have braved the cold days following the snowfall on Sunday evening and have enjoyed playing in the snow.

The children have been dressed in their Christmas best for both the Christmas lunch on Wednesday and for today’s christmas celebrations.  They have met Santa in his grotto, had dancing competitions, christmas party games (Christmas whispers, christmas musical statues, christmas musical chairs to name a few!).  Alongside all of this, they had been devising the longest paper chain decoration and today, joined them all together as one chain!  The chain we feel could probably stretch from the classroom down to the main hall so congratulations to them for making the classroom feel festive.  The snowflakes have been designed so intricately too.

On Thursday, the children walked with their reception partners down to the Wyllotts to see the pantomime of Dick Whittington. Their reception partners were so delighted to have the oldest children in the school sit beside them during the performance, keeping them company and watching over them.

Have a lovely weekend.
