In Religion this week the children have been looking at the Resurrection story – The Road to Emmaus. We will continue working on this story next week as part of our Big Write in English.

Year 2 have been making the most of the glorious weather this week. We have been working hard digging and planting up the vegetable patches. The children found lots of worms and insects and we even found a frog! What do you think we should call the frog? All suggestions welcome.

Year 2 Blog Week 23

It has been another action-packed week for the Year 2 crew! This week was British Science Week and the theme was ‘Underground’. We launched into this theme with THE BIG QUESTION- What would be positive or negative if we lived underground? There was a lot of discussion and some very interesting answers. Negative – No WiFi! Positive – No more sunburn. Year 2 learnt about volcanoes and created their own clay models. IMG_1510 IMG_1511 IMG_1512 IMG_1513 IMG_1514 IMG_1558 IMG_1559 IMG_1560

The children really enjoyed finding and observing these wriggly creatures. IMG_1534 IMG_1535 IMG_1536 IMG_1538 IMG_1540 IMG_1541 IMG_1543 IMG_1544 IMG_1546 IMG_1548 IMG_1549 IMG_1554

Year 2 Blog Week 20

Lent is a time when we pray, give up treats and do kind things for other people, as we prepare to celebrate the great feast of Easter. Year 2 thought very carefully about their Lenten promises and created a beautiful display for our Sacred space in the classroom.IMG_1326

On Tuesday, we came together for a whole school Act of Worship for Lent and placed our Lenten promises on a special Lenten Tree. This Lent we are supporting CAFOD and the amazing work they do helping families around the world living in poverty, especially those who do not have the basic things they need like enough food or clean water.IMG_1255 IMG_1249

This week, Year 2 had their first rugby session with Saracens Rugby. It was an amazing session. The children perfected their throwing and catching skills… especially the ‘W’ grip and ‘Superman Hands’.

The results are in and the winner is …. Rainbow Chard. Year 2 can’t wait to grow this colourful vegetable.IMG_1222 IMG_1221

Safer Internet Day 2018

Today is Safer Internet Day! This is a time for all of us to think about what we love about the internet, all the wonderful opportunities it provides for us and what we can do to keep ourselves safe when using it. Year 2 looked at the story of The Three Little Monsters and thought about all the ways that we can be kind to others both offline and online. We discussed the importance of telling an adult straight away if someone is unkind.Capture

This Safer Internet Day, everyone is being encouraged to play their part in building a better internet. What can you do to be kind and positive online? Year 2 had a great time creating their jigsaw pieces of the puzzle.
