Summer 1 Week 5
This week has been about the story Oi! Get off our Train. The children have been learning about endangered animals and writing what animals they would have on their train and where they would go. They have been making posters to tell people about endangered animals. The children have been making trains using a variety of resources. The story travels through different seasons and the children have been making pictures of the difference seasons. We listened to Pope Francis’ letter called Laudato Si then we discussed all the things we already do to build a better world.
Outside, the children have made a train station and a train and have been talking about the different journeys we make on trains. They have taken on roles as train drivers, ticket collectors and passengers.
The children found lots of snails and slugs in the playground and made a home for them.
In Maths, we have been learning about 2D shapes. The children have been naming 2D shapes, learning that shapes do not change when you rotate them. The children have been making pictures out of shapes and identifying the shapes of real life objects.
In assembly, the children presented flames of the things they will do to try to be a Pentecost person. We talked about our Mission Prayer that we say every day and how we can use those words to be a Pentecost person.
Next week we are learning about London. If your child has been on a trip to somewhere in London and you have a photo, please send it in. If you have a photo of your child on a bus or a train, please send it in.
Children need to bring sunhats into school each day.
Have a wonderful weekend.
