This week in Year 4, the children focused on grammar in English, revising sentence types and structures, conjunctions, adverbials and expanded noun phrases as well as a range of punctuation and key spellings. In Maths, they continued their learning of time by converting between analogue and digital time. In RE, the class has focused on Pentecost and created pop art pieces to decorate our RE corner using symbols of the Holy Spirit.

Carrying on their Pentecost learning, the class also wrote reports on the life and work of Edmund Campion, one of the Tyburn Martyrs we have learnt about briefly last week. After researching his life using a range of secondary sources, the children presented their findings and made connections between his mission and what it means to be a Pentecost Person. On Thursday, we also made campion flowers using weaving technique.

In PE, the children enjoyed a warm afternoon on the field practicing their rounders skills, whilst in music they learnt about pentatonic scales and listened to songs using them with Mrs Heymoz. We are looking forward to next week’s session, when the children will compose their own short pieces using the notes included in the scale.

Please remember that we will celebrate Mass in school on Friday, 24th May at 2pm; all are welcome!

Have a lovely weekend,

Ms Varga
