Year 6 – Friday 24th April learning

Good morning, Year 6. The wonderful weather we are having means that spring is now in full bloom and there  are bursts of green and other bright colours everywhere you look. Here is a photo I took on my daily walk the other day:

Taanya has sent in photos of her fantastic time capsule containing items such as soap, hand sanitiser, flour, a face mask, gloves and a coin so that it can be detected by a metal detector in years to come!

Here is today’s learning:

For five weeks in a row, people all across the UK have stepped outside to put their hands together as a gesture of gratitude and appreciation for care and medical workers. The government has successfully persuaded the public on the importance of staying at home to save more lives from coronavirus; however, it has come under pressure as it fails to provide sufficient protection for those on the front line. Doctors and nurses in the NHS have been ensuring that they give the best care to every infected individual, regardless of where they come from or what language they speak, but they are risking their own lives in doing so. It is essential that we always remember the determined people who gave so much for our health. Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab stated, “We pay tribute to the dedication and care of the NHS. Their legacy needs no explanation.” Meanwhile, a massive drop in air pollution and clean air is apparent across Indian cities as a result of 1.3 billion people experiencing lockdown across the word.
