Group 1 conquered their fears to whizz through the air at high speed on the zip wire, whilst Group 2 put their climbing skills to the test and scaled a 25ft wall!

Next the children put their blindfolds on and put their trust in their peers as they followed a trail through tunnels and tyres on their hands and knees.

Lunch was a choice of BBQ chicken wrap, sausage roll or jacket potato, after which it was onto fencing, bouldering, fire lighting and tackling an obstacle course.

More good food was consumed in the form of butter chicken or pasta bake followed by strawberry cheesecake, which set Y6 up well for Low Ropes and Trail of Mystery.

After another jam-packed sunny day, it was time to recharge their batteries once again and hit the sack.

The children loved receiving your emails – thanks for sending those through!

Kingswood Day 1

We’ve arrived! We had a smooth journey up the country and have been enjoying the sun since we got here. Upon arrival, the children had fun on the field playing football and volleyball with beautiful sea views! Then came the first test: making their beds. Let’s just say they need a lot more practice before they are pros!

For dinner, we enjoyed lasagne or chicken and wedges, with gooey brownie for pudding.

After that, we had Problem Solving, during which the class wowed our instructor by answering his riddles in record time! They had a bit more trouble trying to figure out how to escape from knotted ropes though.

Our final activity of the day was singing, telling jokes, drinking hot chocolate and toasting marshmallows on the campfire as the sunset.

Year 6 Kingswood Meeting (24/5/18)

It was great to see so many of you at the Kingswood Information Evening on Thursday. For those that were not able to make it, the powerpoint is below, and I will give the forms to your child.

Year 6 – 25/05/18

Post-SATs life is upon us and it has been an extremely busy but enjoyable week here in Year 6.  We began Spirituality Week by welcoming grandparents into our classroom, where the children found out what their grandparents’ childhoods were like compared to their own. It was interesting to hear that it was extremely uncommon for people to go abroad decades ago, and we discussed why this might have been the case.

Here are some of the impressive portraits that the children drew of their grandparents.

Also on Monday, Year 6 exchanged prayer cards with their Reception reading partners, ate some cake, then spent some time playing together. They all had great fun getting the parachute out!

As is traditional for Spirituality Week, the Year 6s led the rest of the school in the Spirituality Stations – a chance for each class to spend half an hour in the hall and be still an reflective whilst participating in various prayerful activities. There were comments from staff members about how well the Year 6s led the rest of the school – well done.

In English, we have moved onto a new unit based around a book called The Island. The children have enjoyed getting into the role of the different characters, and are being kept in suspense about how the story ends!

We are lucky enough to have Mr Dugan teaching PE between now and the end of term, with the focus being on cricket.

A huge well done to all those that participated in the Oakmere Mini Marathon this morning: you did yourselves proud. Congratulations in particular to Ellie (who came 1st out of the girls) and Ben (who came 8th out of the boys).

Once again, it was wonderful to see every single one of you auditioning for a part in the Y6 production. I will be blogging another post in the next couple of days to outline what you need to learn song-wise over half term, but you’ll need to make sure you know all your lines by the time we come back so that we can hit the ground running with rehearsals.

Well that’s another half term gone in a flash. Well done for all the hard work you’ve put into your learning. It’s been an extremely busy few weeks, so have a restful week off and I’ll see you all on the 4th June.

Miss Donatantonio

Year 6 – 18/05/18

SATs are over! Well done to each and every one of you for the fantastic effort you put into this week. You all gave it your absolute best and you ought to be proud of yourselves whatever the mark on the paper at the end of it.

It is now time to start work on our End-of-year Production. Click here for the list of parts from which to choose. I have given you all audition sheets, and here is a reminder of what you need to prepare.

If you’re auditioning for a male part, then prepare one of the Bugsy’s sections on page 4.

If you’re auditioning for a female part, then prepare Blousey’s lines from the dialogue on page 6.

If you’re auditioning for a part that requires solo singing, then prepare the first verse of I’m Feeling Fine, in addition to lines as above.

Here is the song:

And here is the backing track version:

We also need to start learning the songs that everybody will be singing.

Happy practising and I look forward to listening to you next week (day to be decided).

Have a lovely weekend.

Miss Donatantonio
