Year 2 Blog Week 9
It has been a very busy week in Year 2. The children have been focusing on the book Weslandia as part of our whole school writing project.
‘Wesley is an outcast from the civilization around him. He’s not into pizza or football or haircuts like the other boys in his school. So, when Wesley has to find a project for the holidays, he has a brilliant idea: he’ll found a civilization of his own – in his back garden!’
The children have engaged in lots of creative learning around the story- creating a model Weslandia for our classroom as well as a life sized Wesley. We will begin our big write next week – watch this space!
This week was UK Parliament week and Year 2 have been learning all about Democracy. The children had great fun using the backdrops and props in the hall.
In P.E. this week we have continued work on balances. The children worked together to produce some amazing team balances!
Year 2 ended the week with a beautiful Remembrance Act of Worship. It was very special to come together and pray for our loved ones who are no longer with us. May they rest in peace. Amen
Home Learning: Spellings wk 2, reading comprehension, handwriting and Mathletics.
Have a peaceful weekend,
Miss Davey
The House of Commons and House of Lords photo’s are brilliant. It’s good to see our children being introduced to the complicated world of democracy and politics.
The PE balancing photo’s are very impressive and the Remembrance Act of Worship on Friday was very sensitive and poignant – thank you for allowing us to be involved.
