Week One

Welcome back, I hope you all had a restful holiday. The children have come into school raring to go this week – impressing me with their listening skills and effort in lessons.

We have started by looking at place value in maths – the children have played games, made posters and solved word problems using their knowledge of place value.

In English we have been studying the book ‘The Day The Crayons Quit’, which has been great fun. The children have been very good at identifying the crayons problems and have proved to be fantastic adjective detectives!

Our science topic is rocks and soils and this week the class have been making careful observations about different rocks and have grouped them according to their appearance. This is proving to be a popular topic.

We have also had the opportunity to meet Alex the seminary who is staying with Father Sean this month, which was nice. Alex will continue to come into school over the next few weeks.

The children have also had the opportunity to reflect ion their talents and what they are looking forward to this year.

It has been lovely to welcome them into Y3 and get to know them. I look forward to meeting you next Tuesday at the meet the teacher meeting.

Have a great weekend

Miss Pringle

Well after a summer of complaining to Manus about having to carry a bunch of rocks around everywhere we went it is great to hear they are learning about them in school. Am sure he will bring in some of his finds from Pompeii or Monmouth this week!
