Year 2 Blog Week 4

This week in school we launched The Year of The Word – The God Who Speaks. In Year 2 we found out about St. Jerome and how he translated the Bible into Latin, a language that ordinary people could understand. We reflected on how St. Paul VI helped to spread the Good News and the children created a beautiful collage of our patron saint for our classroom.

In English we have been focusing on the book Joan Procter, The Dragon Doctor, as part of our whole school writing project. We concentrated on one of Joan’s most interesting reptiles, the Komodo dragon and everyone thought of fantastic adjectives to describe it. Hopefully we will catch a glimpse of the Komodo dragons in London Zoo next week.

Our author for the month of October is the very famous Children’s Laureate, Sir Michael Morpurgo. We whizzed through Fox Friend and we are looking forward to reading This Morning I Met a Whale.

In Maths, we have continued work on Place Value. The children have solved problems using the maths resources as well as drawing pictorial representation.

Home Learning: Spelling rule 3 and Mathletics.

If you have any small cardboard boxes at home in your recycling … please send them in for an art activity next week. (No bigger than a cereal box)

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Davey
