Week 9: 10th November
Preparing the Altar……
This week, we have continued with our English work on writing an informal letter using a story about Asterix and Obelix as the stimulus. The children have worked really hard on this work and we are very proud of them putting into practice the grammar work we have been doing to encourage them to move their writing on.
In RE the children read about Remembrance Sunday and wrote their own prayers for those soldiers who died in the war and one for a member of their own family. In our class worship, the children shared these prayers with each other. We revisited what the Eucharist means to us and watched what vestments the priest wears at Mass. After learning more about the altar, the children had the opportunity to prepare an altar or put the altar away. I was so impressed by how reverent they were at doing this.
In Maths, we have continued with our work on addition by ‘thinking 100’. The children have followed the work well and we’ll be doing worded problems on this to ensure that we can apply our understanding.
In PE we have continued with our focus on dribbling.
Next week, we are doing a whole school writing focus on a book called ‘Traction Man!’ As part of this weeks homework, the children have been asked to bring in to school on Monday a toy that they play with or have played with and be ready to discuss what adventures they have had with their toy.
Have a lovely weekend.
Remember, if your child has any problems with the homework, we have homework club on Monday at lunch-time.
