Year of Community 2026/2027

Gifted by God, Growing Together, Serving Others

At Pope Paul Catholic Primary School, our theme for 2026-2027 is Year of Community. As we celebrate 60 years of serving our local community, we will spend the year reflecting on how God calls each of us to use our gifts and talents in service of others. This special year will help us strengthen relationships, deepen our understanding of Catholic Social Teaching and continue our mission of building a caring, compassionate and faith-filled community.

Our Scripture Inspiration

This scripture reminds us that God has gifted every person with unique talents. We are called to share these gifts with others, helping to build stronger communities and making a positive difference in the world around us.

Our Aims

Over the year we will focus on a community being a group of people who belong together, care for one another and work for the good of all. Throughout the year, we will help children understand that they are part of many communities: their family, their class, our school, the parish, the local community and the wider world.

During the Year of Community, we aim to:

  • Help pupils understand that God has given each of us gifts to use for the good of others.
  • Celebrate the diversity of talents and gifts within our community.
  • Encourage children to recognise their own gifts and use them in service.
  • Build stronger relationships with ourselves, others, God's creation and God.
  • Make the principles of Catholic Social Teaching more explicit in our daily lives and learning.

A Year to Remember

Throughout the year we would like to share examples of how pupils, staff, families, governors and others in our community are living out our theme. Together we will celebrate the many ways our community demonstrates kindness, service, generosity and faith.

As Pope Francis reminds us:

"I would ask the many young people present to be generous with their God-given talents for the good of others, the Church and our world."

We look forward to a wonderful year as we continue to learn, grow and serve together as a community of faith.
