Year 6 – 17/11/17
Schools around the country have this week been taking part in Anti-Bullying week. The focus has been that each of us is different, yet we are all equal. We have been reflecting on our class book, Wonder, in which the main character is treated differently because of facial defects he was born with. We also looked at the lyrics to the song Beautiful, by Christina Aguilera, discussed the complexities of cyber bullying, and meditated on a passage from Scripture in which we are told not to judge others when we ourselves have plenty of imperfections.
Each class in the school has been studying the book ‘Traction Man’ and in Year 6 we have been exploring the humour within the story. On Monday, the children role-played the various missions that Traction Man accomplishes in the story, and on Wednesday, we held a press conference for Traction Man and questioned him about his heroic deeds!
In Science this week, we learnt about the circulatory system and acted out the journey of the red blood cell as it is pumped around the body.
We continued our PE gymnastics unit, focusing this week on floor movements. They worked hard to improve their forward and backward rolls so that they could stand them up at the end.
This week’s home learning is here.
