Year 6 – 11/06/21

It’s been a very busy first week back for our final half term. In RE, we began learning about discipleship; in Maths, we looked at how we could manipulate equations to work out derived calculations; in Science, we planned an investigation that will help us understand how Darwin came up with his theory of evolution by natural selection; in Geography with Mrs McDonald, they learned about different ways that rocks can erode in The Valley of Rocks; in PE, we practised batting in a session with Chance to Shine cricket charity; in English, we started our new unit based on Arthur Spiderwick’s Field Guide To The Fantastical World Around You, and yesterday we learned all about the mischievous and opportunistic Boggart. The children wrote diary entries about what havoc they would wreak if they were Boggarts, and freeze-framed their mischief!

PE:

We ended the week by spending time with our reading partners, teaching them ball skills. As always, the Year 6s were fantastic with their partners, encouraging them and making them laugh.

We have also commenced rehearsals for High School Musical. Your home learning for this week is to learn your lines by heart and to practise the songs so that you are really familiar with them. I have created a playlist to help you practise your vocal parts, which you can access here.

Access the HSM script here.

Enjoy the sunny weekend, and I’ll see you on Monday.
