Year 6 – 07/09/18

It has been a wonderful first week back here in Year 6. On Wednesday, we focused heavily on our Mission Prayer by discussing the values it contains, how we live out these values, and where in Scripture these values are taught.
In maths, we have been delving into place value by looking at reasoning and problem solving questions. In English, we have got straight into our class text – Goodnight, Mister Tom – which runs alongside our history topic on World War Two. The children have engaged brilliantly with the text so far, including creating freeze frames of the opening scene (see photos below). Our WW2 topic went off with a bang as the children had to suddenly take cover under the tables as the air raid siren sounded! We have learnt the key events leading up to the outbreak of WW2 and have thought about what it may have felt like to be an evacuee.

A special mention must go to all the children who put themselves forward to be a House Captain this afternoon. You spoke clearly, maturely and articulately in front of your housemates, so you ought to be very proud of your speeches whatever the outcome.

Well done for all your learning you’ve produced this week – it’s going to be a great year!

Have a lovely weekend, and I’ll see you all on Monday.

Miss Donatantonio
