Year 5 – 21/06/24
What a busy week we’ve had! Here’s a quick recap of some of the activities we enjoyed in Year 5 this week.
Monday: Visit to The Twelve Apostles Church
We kicked off our Other Faith Week with a visit to The Twelve Apostles Church, a beautiful Greek Orthodox church in Brookmans Park. We learned so much about the saints artwork adorning the walls and stained glass windows of the church. The intricate icons, stunning mosaics and detailed artwork everywhere in the church was designed to make us feel like we are in heaven with the saints, and we certainly got a sense of that! A big thank you to Mrs Martides for organising the trip, and for Fr Demetrianos for welcoming us so warmly and answering our questions.
Tuesday: Sports Day
Tuesday was Sports Day, and what an afternoon it was! Everyone gave their best in the races, jumps, and throws. It was wonderful to see so much team spirit and enthusiasm. Thank you to all the parents who came to support us; your cheers and encouragement made the event even more special!
Thursday: Mini Police
On Thursday, we had our third session of Mini Police, and we focused on road safety. We learned important tips about how to stay safe when crossing the road and the importance of being aware of our surroundings. After the road safety session, we had the chance to look inside a police car and see the equipment the officers use.
Next week, we have our Taster Day at NBS on Wednesday; if I have not yet received your permission slip, please ensure I am given it (electronically or physically) on Monday.
Here’s this week’s home learning:
