Year 3 Week 6 Friday 14th February

RE

On Tuesday we took a trip to The Central London Mosque. We departed school at 9.15am and made our way into central London. Once we arrived we were greeted by a spokesperson who began telling us about the Muslim faith, introducing the children to the 5 pillars along with a discussion focused on the Prophets, Allah, the Quran and many more interesting facts. We then made our way into the library where the children were able to see 3D Mosque models. Shortly after that, we made our way into the vast prayer room. The children were amazed by the grandness of the room and the beautiful chandelier than was hanging from the ceiling! They responded with great respect and were beautifully behaved throughout the day, they were certainly a credit to you! As we came to the end of our time at the Mosque, we couldn’t resist a quick trip to the park before heading home. Enjoy the pictures!

Maths

This week in capacity and mass the children have explored the equivalent in masses and then compared masses.

Geography

This week we concluded our topic with exploring the question ‘Why don’t the largest earthquakes always cause the most death and destruction?’ and ‘Why do most volcanoes happen in the same places as earthquakes?’
