Year 3 Week 3 Friday 14th March
Science Week
On Tuesday morning, the children took part in a workshop with a Science teacher from NBS. They looked at the forces of magnets, discussed their north and south sides and what happens when they are put together. They then went on to make a maze and use a magnet to steer a ball bearing around it!

Or here for some at home activities. British Science Week 2025 Home Learning Challenge
On Thursday the children were presented with this question to investigate:
They worked well using their Oracy skills to develop the question of their investigation to ‘Which type of biscuit will last the longest when dunked into cold milk?’
They then proceeded to plan their investigation before conducting it and recording their results.
We can’t possibly share the results with you as they children would like to repeat this investigation at home just to make sure it”s fair!
Maths
In Maths, the children have been learning to multiply and divide a 2 digit number by a 1-digit number with and without an exchange. They used part whole models to help them with their method.
History
This week the children explored the question:
Was Stone Age man simply a hunter and gatherer, concerned only with survival?
They are looking forward to their trip on Tuesday to expand their knowledge.
Please keep an eye on the weather as it is mostly an outside activity trip.
Have a look at this video for an idea of the activities.

Reading books will now try to be changed on a Thursday when more adults are available.
This early spring weather has meant that our daffodils for Mother’s Day have already bloomed!
We are send them home today for an early gift but you will have to wait for your cards 🙂
