Year 2 Blog Week 24

It has been another action-packed week for the Year 2 crew! This week was British Science Week and there was plenty of scientific enquiry and plenty of investigations in Year 2. We launched into the week with THE BIG QUESTION- What is the best biscuit for dunking? The children had great fun planning this investigation as well as testing the biscuits and recording the results. We all enjoyed a well earned biscuit after all of our careful testing and recording.

This week we were very lucky to have 2 special visitors in Year 2 – Caitlin and Lucy’s mum came in to talk to KS1 about nursing and working in a hospital. The children asked lots of great questions. It was a very enjoyable and informative talk.

We also had a visit from Mr Frielander from Dame Alice Owen’s science department. He came to teach us about biodiversity. Year 2 had great fun using pooters to trap insects for closer observation and classification. Wonderful specimens were found in the Peace Garden and vegetable beds.

Thank you to everyone who came to our celebration morning. I hope you enjoyed sharing all of our amazing science learning. We will keep you updated on the progress of the caterpillars.
