Year 1 Blog Week 19

I have 6 faces and 8 vertices. I cannot roll. All my faces are square. Who am I?

Year 1 have been very busy this week investigating the properties of 3D shapes. The children sorted 3D shapes by counting the faces and the vertices. They also looked at flat and curved faces and whether the shapes can roll or stack. Year 1 had great fun making their own 3D shapes.

What a lovely thing to do. It looks like the children really enjoyed making the shapes. Alice says the answer is a cube…

Darcie-Louise loved making the 3D shapes, she is often pointing out shapes to me and her sisters to see if they know what they are. 🙂
