Year 1 Blog Week 17

It has been another fun week in Year 1. In Maths this week we have been learning to tell the time to the hour and half past the hour. The children were also investigating how many things they can do in 1 minute. There were some surprising results. How many star jumps do you think you could do in 1 minute?

The children also engaged in plenty of outdoor learning activities this week. On Wednesday we had our green fingers at the ready as we planted crocuses. We can’t wait to see these beautiful flowers in spring.

In Science the children have also been learning about birds. We made some bird feeders using pine cones, lard and a mixture of seeds. It was a very enjoyable activity.

The children then put their bird masks on and we headed into the Peace Garden to hang our bird feeders up for the hungry birds. We spotted some House Sparrows, Crows and a Blue Tit.

The Big Garden Birdwatch is fast approaching. Are you taking part? Be sure to check out the RSPB website for more information.

Happy bird watching!

Joseph loved being outdoors this week. He now wants a bird feeder in our garden so he can spot the different types of birds. Brilliant activity!
