Welcome Back

It was wonderful to welcome all of Year 5 back to school this week. We have been incredibly busy! On Monday we made Viking bread and used cream to make our own butter. Their loaves looked amazing. On Thursday we took part in World Book Day. We had a real range of costumes! Well done to everyone for putting in so much effort.

This week has been British Science Week. The focus this year is on being innovative. With this in mind, we have learnt about moving toys and over the next few weeks will become inventors ourselves and build our own toy using cam mechanisms. We also learnt about a famous toy inventor: Ole Kirk Christiansen, the inventor of Lego. His journey was incredibly inspiring. Here is a link to his life story, told through animation:

Each day, we have been working on improving fitness by running/walking a mile. Try and keep this up over the weekend. On Monday, it took 28 minutes for everyone to complete the course. Today, it was 18 minutes. Well done, Year 5!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend and Mothering Sunday.
