We have had a very productive and fun time in Year 3 this week. Our class book is George’s Marvellous Medicine and on Thursday we took part in lots of fun activities, based on this book, to celebrate Roald Dahl day. What a wicked Grandma George has!
In English we have written informal letters based on the book The Day The Crayons Quit. We will be editing and performing them in class next week. The children have been very creative with their ideas – well done everyone.
We have continued to develop our understanding of place value in maths and have completed tricky missing number puzzles. Mathletic home learning tasks are based on this topic.
Our RE topic, ‘Beginning with God’, has lead us to explore what The Sign Of The Cross means and how our faith influences our actions and words. Next week we are going to be studying the story of The Burning Bush.
The class have also been learning about where sedimentary rock can be found in the UK and how it is formed – they have used their map skills to locate these places in the atlas. It has been great to see their own rock collections and hear how enthusiastic they are about this topic.
We have also looked at Stone Age tools and objects, which inspired us to make clay thumb pots and necklaces.
During Thursdays PE lesson we prastised our dodging skills, while learning a new invasion game and today Mr Dugan led us through lots of different team building activities.
The children have been given a home learning pack today, with activities and information about passwords, reading days and tasks inside. If you have any questions please speak to me on Monday. If you were unable to attend the meeting on Tuesday please don’t worry, all the information will be added to our class page on the website.
Have a lovely weekend,
