Week 4 in Reception Class

What another busy week- it has flown by!

On Monday, we began our phonics learning. Thank you for supporting your child at home with this- I know it can sometimes be a battle to get the children to practise their letter formation and sounding out, but the extra time spent at home really reinforces the new learning and pays off in the long term.

On Tuesday we had our ‘Welcome Mass’. The children were extremely well behaved and very excited to receive their own prayer books, blessed by Father Shaun.

On Thursday, the class took part in a drama workshop and they absolutely loved it. They were taken on an underwater adventure, in search of a missing pearl, and met lots of sea creatures along the way!

Lots of our learning this week focussed on turning the shed into a supermarket, and the new mud kitchen into ‘The Mud Kitchen Café’. The children enjoyed writing menus and posters, labelling, pricing and making shopping items, creating food and of course, serving customers.

Next week, we are going to be thinking about when we were babies. Please can you provide your child with a baby photograph of themselves, that we can display in class? They will be returned to you in due course. Thank you.

Have a lovely weekend,

The Reception Team
