This week we have been focussing on the theme ‘My Family’, and have enjoyed taking inspiration from the book ‘Stick Man’ by Julia Donaldson.

The children had fun creating their own stick man, from a range of natural materials found while exploring the school grounds. They also used sticks and other natural objects to construct, mark make and create collage pictures.

During circle time, we talked and afterwards wrote about other things a stick could be used for. Some of the fabulous ideas that the children came up with included: hairbrush, microphone, paddle, make-up brush, back scratcher, pointer, drum stick and bat.

The highlight of the week was receiving our brand new fantastic mud kitchen made by Hanna’s family.

We finished the week off by spending time in the glorious sunshine, reading books with our Year 6 Reading Partners.
