The Adventures of the Dish and the Spoon

Year 4 has had an exciting start to the new half term by launching into their new English topic based on The Adventures of the Dish and the Spoon!  The illustrations and language is quite familiar to them as the book is by Mini Grey, the same author who wrote Traction Man.

The children also had their first violin lesson with Mrs Rogers. They have learnt how to hold the instrument in the rest position and to pluck the strings to create a simple tune.

This week was also the start of Fairtrade fortnight and the class  started to celebrate the people who grow our food, people who live in some of the poorest countries in the world and who are often exploited and badly paid.  This year we are focusing on the people – in particular the women – who grow the cocoa in the chocolate we love so much.  The children wrote fabulous stories based on their lives as a cocoa bean.

Thank you for celebrating the children’s learning this week at our consultations.
