Summer 2 Week 3

In Year 2 this week, the children have created their own monsters and written descriptions of them. They have also written a letter warning a child not to take a monster to school. Next week they will be planning and writing a story about a monster coming to Pope Paul School! They will need to include descriptive language, conjunctions and interesting sentence starters to engage the reader.

In Maths, the children have been learning about symmetry . They have investigated which 2D shapes have lines of symmetry and used mirrors to help them reflect a pattern across a mirror line, creating symmetrical pictures.

In swimming, the children learnt about the meaning of different flags at beaches and swimming pools. They also learnt what do if they fall into open water and how to save someone else.

The children have also enjoyed tending to the gardens and playing lots of tennis and badminton at playtime.

Have a lovely weekend

Miss Pringle

English – Please think about what trouble a monster might cause at school and how the children might teach the monster how to behave. Bring an A4 piece of paper with ideas (not a whole story) on, that can be used to support their story writing in class. For example would they; Chase the teachers? Eat all the pizza? Teach the children to roar/fly/breath fire? Break all the chairs? Smash the jungle gym? Climb/ Fly onto the roof? Make friends? Become a Y2 pupil or teacher at Pope Paul School?
