Summer 1 Week 5

In English this week, Year 5 wrote their narratives they have building up to for the past few weeks. I was really impressed by their use of repetition for effect and the powerful verbs they included to provide interest for their reader. Next week, these will be edited and written up in their best handwriting.

In maths we have continued to focus on division.  Year 5 have put a lot of effort into understanding the short method and have been diving 4 digit numbers by a single digit. Next week, we will be expressing remainders in a range of ways.

It was the feast of the Ascension on Thursday and Year 5 took part in a mass at Our Lady and St Vincent via live stream. Mrs Moccia was pleased with the learning the produced on the significance of this event.

Today we started our entries for the Royal Mail Heroes stamp competition. This involved Year 5 thinking about who their hero of the coronavirus pandemic is and commemorating them with a stamp.

We finished our week with some Golden Time outside. It felt well deserved after the soggy week we had.

Have a wonderful weekend
