Spring 2 Week 4
On Monday, we had a science workshop with two scientists. The children built homes for animals to adapt in, they made a boat and tested whether it floated or sank, they made birds and camouflage animals.

This week we read the story The Scarecrow’s Wedding. The children made scarecrows, made wedding vehicles and wedding gifts. They wrote invitations, designed wedding cakes and wrote about the gifts that they would give. On Friday, the children dressed in party clothes and acted out the Scarecrow’s wedding then we had a party!

In Maths, we have been adding using a range of resources. The children have been describing what numbers they see when shown a picture.

In Phonics, we learnt ear, ure and er. These are difficult sounds so please practise at home. We have finished learning the Phase 3 sounds so please practise them at home. Next week we will be assessing the children on the sounds we have learnt this term, then we will revise all the sounds and continue to apply them to reading and writing.
In Religion, we read the story the Good Samaritan. We discussed who in the story was a good friend and how they showed loved. We thought about how we can be a good friend. During Lent we try to give to others, the children have been working hard on their Lent promises to be kind and caring to their friends.
During Lent, we give to others. Next Friday, we will be making cakes and drinks. The parents of Reception are invited to come at 3pm to have a cake and drink with their child in the Reception playground. Please donate on schoolcomms. The money will go to Mary Meals and The Isabel Hospice.
