Spring 2 Week 2
This week, we have been reading the story Farmer Duck. The children hot seated the characters and asked each other questions. They wrote about what the farmer might have done next. They made ducks, drew story maps and painted pictures of the story.
On Tuesday, we celebrated Mardi Gras by decorating pancakes, pancake races, making masks and dancing.
On Wednesday, we had a lovely service for Ash Wednesday. The children sang and responded beautifully. All the children received ashes on their foreheads. In class we listened to the story of Jesus going into the desert and the children thought about the things they can do during Lent to be closer to Jesus. They made crosses to remember Jesus and they drew pictures of the story.
On Thursday, the children looked amazing dressed as book characters or in their pyjamas. The children took part in activities from different books. They made caterpillars, they had a tea party and made witches potions. They also made bookmarks and drew their favourite characters.
In Maths, we have been making doubles and recalling doubles. Please continue to practise at home.
In Phonics, we have learnt the tricky word are and digraphs ar, or and ur. Please practise these at home.
Have a wonderful weekend.
