Spring 1 Week 4

This week we read the story The Gingerbread Man. The children wrote new endings to the story. They made gingerbread men from different resources, they sequenced the story, they made a bridge for the gingerbread man to cross and labelled the characters. The highlight was making gingerbread men and eating them.

After we were scientists. We predicted what liquid would be the safest for The Gingerbread Man to swim in. Oil, water, juice or vinegar. We measured the liquid to make it a fair test and observed what happened. The only gingerbread to not dissolve was in the oil.

This week was Chinese New Year. Thank you to Yashu and Isabella’s mums for coming in, decorating our class, talking to the children about Chinese New Year and giving out lots of gifts.  We made snakes, dragons and wrote numbers 1 – 5 in Chinese. Happy New Year to Yashu and Isabella’s families.

In Maths, they represented 6, 7 and 8 in different ways and practise counting on from 5 to 6, 7, 8.

In Phonics, we learnt the digraphs ch, sh, th and the tricky word they. Please practise at home.

In Religion, we listened to the story Jesus Feeds the 5000. The children acted out the story, made baskets of bread and fish, drew pictures and wrote sentences.

Have a wonderful weekend.
