Spring 1 Week 1

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Thank you for our cards and the generous gifts.

In Religion, the children listened to the story of the Three Wise Men visiting Jesus. We talked about the meaning of the word Epiphany and discussed the epiphany moments during the week. The children made stars with their epiphany moments on them.

In PE, our topic is Gymnastics. This week the children travelled in different ways along the apparatus. They thought carefully about how they jumped and landed safety.

In Maths, we have been revising the different addition and subtraction strategies and solving problems.

In English, the children have been enthusiastic about The Finger Eater Story. They have been gathering evidence from the text to describe the Finger Eater and to warn others about what they should do if they meet him. The children made fantastic predictions about what the characters could do to trick the unusual troll. Then the children made collages of the troll.

In Science the children have been learning about different types of rocks.

PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday. This Wednesday the children are starting swimming.
