On Wednesday the Year 6  had a wonderful opportunity to start their school year in a special and meaningful way by leading a class Mass. With the guidance of Father Shaun and Deacon Sean, they took responsibility for the readings, hymns, and playing an active role in the celebration. This experience we feel gave them a sense of leadership and community, while also helping to set a positive and reflective tone for the new academic year. Well done to all the children and a special mention goes to our greeters Gene and Julia, our readers: Maddie, Mya, Tiya, Michael, Sophie and Francine, our altar servers Nathan and Raylan, Fraser for ensuring the power point slides were on when they should have been, Zachary and Finn B for doing the offertory and to the parents who came to make the celebration all that more special.

On Monday the house captains of St Vincent’s House, Chloe and Aanay led the assembly to the rest of Key Stage Two.  They had worked hard to put together a power point presentation about St Vincent and his life and did a quiz at the end of it which the children enjoyed.  Well done Chloe and Aanay!  On Monday the liturgy group created the October display of Our Lady in the hall, on Tuesday they went down to OLSV church to take part in the rosary.  They will be attending the Tuesday rosary for a few weeks and will be leading the prayers of the rosary at the end of this month.  Back at school during Wednesday lunchtime they lead their first rosary with the children from Key Stage One and Deacon Sean was there with them to support them.  Well done to Michael, Tiya, Sophie, Mya and Francine.

As it will soon be the Feast Day of St Francis, Frankie and John-Joseph are busy preparing their presentation for the next assembly.

Today we followed on from Year 5’s assembly with some learning about creation of our own. Year 6 researched Coldplay’s world tour and discovered their commitment to sustainability. The children then used Scripture and Catholic Social Teaching to create a letter to their favourite artist about ways they could improve their next tour.
