This week we read the Enormous Turnip. They enjoyed acting the story out. The children’s writing has been fantastic this week, they wrote about what they would use to pull the turnip out, they made books to retell the story and wrote list of the characters in the story. They have been making models using junk modelling.

In Maths, we have been learning about the number 9 and 10. The children have been counting objects and practising writing numbers. They have also been comparing numbers by using the vocabulary more than and fewer than.

In Phonics, we have been revising the Phase 3 sounds and tricky words. I have sent home the sounds that your child has forgotten, so please practise them.

Outside,we have a hairdressers role play area. The children have enjoyed doing each other’s hair and writing receipts.

This term, we have been learning about farms so the children peeled and cut vegetables. This is an important skill for the children to learn and they learnt how to use tools safely. We cooked and sate carrots, turnips. parsnips and potatoes.

On Friday, the children made and decorated cakes to raise money for Mary’s Meals and Isabel Hospice. Thank you for your kind donations. If you have not donated, please donate on schoolcomms. The children have been learning about the importance of giving to others and making links to the stories they have read in The Bible about Jesus giving.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Happy Mother’s Day!
