Spirituality Week 2020

Theme: The God who speaks

Friday 22nd May

The God who speaks through prayer

“Acquire the habit of speaking to God as if you were alone with him, as to the dearest and most loving of friends.”

St Alphonsus

As we reach the end of our spirituality week, I would like to thank our year 6 House captains and Liturgy group for helping to make our week so special.  To listen to your voices as you read from scripture made it so meaningful and I found myself listening to the prayer stations several times over! Thank you so much for your time and creativity.

Mrs Joyce

Today’s focus is to think about prayer and especially prayer through Adoration. So we invite you at 11’o clock to log onto the live streaming at Our Lady and St Vincent’s Church and join Fr Shaun and Deacon Axcel for Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.

NO Adoration and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament TODAY ...

Please remember to say the special Novena prayer that started yesterday, praying it each day until the feast of Pentecost. You will find it below.

NOVENA PRAYER

Mary, our Mother, you stayed with the disciples

in those ten long days between the Ascension and Pentecost,

still patient, still pondering, still trusting in your Son.

Be with us now as we remember how Jesus was taken from your sight.

Be with us now as we remember his call to share our faith.

Be with us now as we await his Holy Spirit.

Pray with us now, ‘Come Holy Spirit’, Thy Kingdom come’.

Amen

A Spiritual Moment

On Tuesday, Mrs Heymoz, Mrs Joyce and I had a spiritual moment.  Deacon Axcel came to school to help assist in preparing the children with the bidding prayers for the Ascension Day Mass.  He came with a beautiful gift for our school community: an icon of the saint St. Raphael which he painted himself. The name St Raphael means ‘God Heals’ and he is the patron saint of travellers, the blind, happy meetings, nurses, physicians, medical workers, matchmakers, Christian marriage, and Catholic studies. We thank Deacon Axcel for this wonderful gift which he has placed on our school altar.

We belong to a wonderful parish community!

Good Morning Year 4!

Today, is our final day of learning before the half-term break and judging by the weather we are having, let’s hope that it continues to shine as much as possible!

It has been great receiving all your emails and photos over this half-term and I want to thank you and your family for your daily updates.

Today is the final day of our Spirituality Week so please look at what is planned for today.  Fr Shaun is inviting us to join him in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at 11am.  Keep an eye at the time so you don’t forget this.  In Maths, we continue with our work on tenths and hundredths by looking at money.  In English, you are going to be retelling the story of the boy at the slide whilst you show the video clip to a member of your family without using the sound on the video!  I’ve set you a PE Challenge and want you to continue exploring the google music link and scratch link too!  I hope that you are continuing to work more independently on your daily work.

Let’s see what you have been up to:

You are remembering your work on perimeter.  The nature pictures are lovely.  I hope that you researched the item you drew…it’s how we learn more about something we see around us that interests us.

Have a lovely day and a well deserved half-term break.

Why have they been sorted this way? Explain your reasoning.Sort the following shapes into 2 groups.
Explain why you have sorted the shapes this way.

WALT: Know the nets of 3D Shapes

The net of a 3D shape is what it looks like if it is opened out flat.

Match the nets to the 3D shapes.

Make your own cube using the net template below.

Carefully cut out the net. Fold along all the lines making sure that all your folds are in the same direction. Be sure to press each fold tightly to make a crisp crease. Place a small line of glue on one of the flaps, then hold the flap tightly against the corresponding side for several seconds. Continue doing this until you’ve glued down all of the flaps, then leave the cube alone for several minutes to give it time to dry.

Decorate your cube!
