Reception Summer 2 Week 7/8

It’s hard to believe that we are at the end of the school year!

It has been a pleasure and a privilege to be part of the childrens’ very first year of their primary education and to watch them grow into confident individuals.

Thank you for your support over the past year and your overwhelming generosity. It is really appreciated.

Wishing you all a wonderful summer!

19th July, 2019

This week we watched in awe at the wonderful music concerts: Monday afternoon and Wednesday afternoon!

Well done to: Heston(cello), Emily and Dejon (piano) and Megan, Mathias, Patrycja, Bella, Ava (singing) who performed in front of their parents, Mrs Heymoz and the children from Year 3 and 4.  Their confidence has grown so much over the year and we look forward to seeing them perform in the new academic year.

Here are the photos from the Violin concert with Mrs Rodgers:

On Thursday we ventured out to St Albans amid the rain and had a lovely day finding out more about the Romans.  Thank you to Thomas’ mum and Mrs Moccia who volunteered to assist us on the day.

Year 6 – 19/07/19

Firstly, well done Year 6 for the beautiful mass that you led last night at the church. I was a very proud teacher and it was a privilege to present you with your leavers’ gifts. Please remember to bring in a USB stick on Monday if you would like a copy of the photo powerpoint that was shown, as it’s too large to post on here.

Today has been a special day for the class, with a special pizza and dessert station for lunch, followed by an exchange of friendship bracelets, cards, and a dance-off with their Reception learning partners.

In RE, we have been learning about the cardinal virtues and we used our beautiful outdoor learning space to role play scenarios in which these virtues might be displayed.

Yesterday, we also heard from our instrumentalists for the final time. Congratulations to all the performers for singing and playing with confidence and for sharing the progress you have made over the years; it was a joy to listen to you.

In art this week, we learnt how to draw eyes – take a look at the fantastic results!

Last week, we said goodbye to Michael, and he led a beautiful act of worship about the importance of love.

And finally, here are the photos from last week’s Sports Day!

Summer 2 Week 7

This week Year 5 have been focusing on creating their CAM toys. They have been using technical vocabulary to discuss the different parts and the movements they  make. It was wonderful to see such great problem solving as they worked to overcome some manufacturing difficulties.

In RE we have been learning about the cardinal virtues. Year 5 created rile plays as to where we might see courage, prudence, restraint and justice in our everyday lives.

Well done to our musicians who performed for us on Tuesday. It is always a pleasure to hear the progress they are making and enjoy their talent.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Year 2 Blog Week 38

Summer 2 Week 7

Our last full week in Year 1!

In Maths we have been dividing by sharing. We have used many objects to share between two and five.

On Monday afternoon we had a great time with Reception on the field. We made up lots of different games and played with the parachute.

In Science we investigated whether all apples have the same number of seeds. We found out that there are different number of seeds in each apples.

We had great fun programming the beebots to move around the mazes we built.

Next week please send in a plastic bag so the children can take home their books.

Have a lovely weekend!

Mrs Carey

Summer 2 Week 6

Congratulations to all the children for their efforts on sports day and thank you for coming along to support and enjoy a picnic with us on the day.

We have been busy in the vegetable gardens this week, harvesting our potatoes and onions. They were delicious!

There will not be any more home learning set this year but please note that reading scheme and library books must be returned next week.

Reception- Summer 2 Week 6

It has been another very busy week in Reception class!

The children have spent lots of time getting to know their new teacher, Mrs Carey and exploring their new classroom, as part of our planned Year 1 transition program.

The highlight of the week was the Sports Day and family picnic. The children began the day by joining in with the warm up dance to the song ‘Cheerleader’ with the rest of the school.

This was followed by the running race, throwing and jumping competition, egg and spoon race and the penalty shoot out!

Thank you for supporting the children; we hope you enjoyed the morning.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend,

Mrs Theo and Mrs Gymer
