19th November – 24th November in Y3
Year 3 have enjoyed starting their new science topic Light and Dark this week. We thought about what life would be like without light and tested whether humans could see without any light sources – we can’t!
We have also created sculptures and pictures in the style of Andy Goldsworthy this week which was great fun. The children were extremely creative.
Our Traction Man recounts are fantastic! The children have been working hard to edit and improve them ready for a big write next week;be prepared for a hall of fame on next week’s blog.
In maths we have completed many different number problems where the children had to use systematic approaches as well as trial and improvement. Can you solve this NRICH problem? We managed to find four different combinations in class!
1,2,3 Magic Square:
Arrange three 1s, three 2s and three 3s in this square so that every row, column and diagonal adds to the same total (6).
We hope you had a chance to view our art this afternoon; we really enjoyed visiting the art gallery.
In computing we have learnt what algorithms are and how they are used to instruct computers. We then wrote and tested our own algorithms for making paper airplanes and brushing our teeth!
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Pringle
