Year 1 have been hard at work this week. In science we have continued work on our plant topic. The children were learning about different parts of plants and identifying the parts that we can eat: roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruit and seeds. There were plenty of Army Ants in the Year 1 classroom with children working together to create very special vegetable plants.
Year 1 were very lucky to be joined by Year 5 this week. Year 5 were of great assistance to Year 1, helping them to start their pom-pom chicks. There were plenty of determined, nimble fingered children threading their wool through their cardboard discs. I am sure there will be lots of fluffy, yellow chicks ready in time for Easter. Watch this space!
In Maths this week we have been looking at fractions. The children have been identifying and finding 1/2 and 1/4 of different shapes.
Problem of the week!
Sometimes, Always or Never!
4 quarters are always made up of 4 equal parts.
Is this sometimes, always or never true?
